Owen began writing poetry under the pseudonym Glaslwyn, entering his work into local eisteddfodau and succeeding in publishing some pieces. |
He grew up on a sheep farm in Pantglas, speaking Welsh, and regularly participated in the Welsh singing competitions known as the eisteddfodau. |
The eisteddfodau in Wales are of course a wonderful tradition where you had singing and poetry competitions in any given village every different Saturday. |
