  2. A lupin bean, a yellow legume seed of a Lupinus plant (usually Lupinus luteus) which is commonly eaten in the Mediterranean area and in Latin America although it is toxic if prepared improperly.

The lupin is a very decorative herbaceous perennial plant of the Asteraceae family.
There's Tutti Frutti, a new lupin with bicoloured flower spikes, Tequila Sunrise, a bronze foliaged antirrhinum, and Creme Brulee, a new phlox, all from Thompson and Morgan.
Seeds were obtained from lupin gene banks in Poland and abroad.
