This is one of the reasons why Chrismation has never been performed separately in the Orthodox Church.
Although normally administered in conjunction with baptism, in some cases chrismation alone may be used to receive converts to Orthodoxy through the exercise of economia.
Then, in due course, they are baptized and undergo chrismation, a sacrament similar to confirmation.
Baptism and Chrismation must be understood and experienced as corporate acts of worship and praise.
The rite therefore appears to have been understood as part of a process of reconciliation, rather than as a reiteration of post-baptismal chrismation.
